Northeast Florida
State Hospital is blessed with more than 700 volunteers who contribute to
improve and enhance the treatment of the individuals served by the hospital.
Gifts of money, time, materials and talent provide the quality of life not
covered by state funds. We honor these wonderful volunteers in April of each
year. VOLUNTEERS ARE THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY Just imagine this world without any volunteers; No one to give of themselves through the years. If everyone lived for their own selfish gain, So many people without hope would remain. Working for a salary is a necessity indeed, And to many in society, that is all they need. While there are those with hearts of gold Who are never happy deep down in their soul, Unless they are helping someone along life’s way, Blessing and enabling them to have a better day. Volunteers don’t have the time but the heart, And that is where volunteerism must start. It’s the heart of a volunteer that causes him to act, To give the time staff members often lack. To help someone else along life’s way With no hope of reward or monetary pay. No volunteers? What would NEFSH do? No one to see even menial tasks through. The heart of our community is our volunteers. Who stand faithful down through the years. May you be blessed in everything you do, And the love you show others come back to you.
