Each year generous citizens of our county contribute to the Jeanine L. Harvey
Scholarship Fund assisting worthy Baker County students to continue their
education. For additional information please contact the Executive Director of
Baker County Education Foundation, Mr. Glenn McKendree, at (904) 259-6251.
History:
On February 3rd, 2004 the citizens of Baker County lost a jewel. Jeanine L.
Harvey had benefited this community for many years. She served on the Baker
County School Board, Country Federal Credit Union
Supervisory Committee, Baker County Fair Volunteer, past member of the Council
on Aging Board, past Vice-Chair Baker County Education Foundation, past member
of the Baker County Democratic Committee, American Cancer Society, and a Relay
for Life Team Leader. She also retired from Northeast Florida State Hospital
where she had served as the Director of Volunteer
Services.
Because of her willingness to serve others and her ability to motivate others to
serve, we have established an award to be given in her honor to recognize
individuals who demonstrated volunteer services and contributions.
Maybe you know someone who donates their time to help others. It may be
someone who spends a few hours each week at our nursing homes visiting with our
senior citizens.
It may be a parent who volunteers at our schools to help grade papers, read
books, or any other task that allows our teachers to focus on what they have
been called to do, teach our future leaders.
Attached you will fine a nomination form along with the criteria. Please take
the time to nominate someone you feel exhibit the qualities deserving of this
award.
